What it is

What is a skin booster?

Skin boosters are injectable hydrators. Rather than sitting on the surface the way a moisturiser does, they place hyaluronic acid into the skin itself, where it draws in and holds water.

What people notice first is usually the light. Skin that had gone flat starts to catch it again, and fine lines soften because the skin underneath is better hydrated.

It is a treatment for skin quality rather than shape. A skin booster won’t change your features or add volume to your cheeks.

Skin boosters vs filler

How skin boosters differ from dermal fillers

Both use hyaluronic acid, but they do different jobs. Dermal fillers are firmer gels placed to restore volume and support in specific areas. Skin boosters are softer and spread through the skin to improve hydration across the whole area treated.

If you want to look fresher without looking different, a skin booster is often the better starting point. Lara will explain which suits your skin at your consultation.

Your treatment

What happens at your skin booster appointment

Skin boosters are available as a single treatment or as a course, with sessions a few weeks apart. Lara will recommend which suits your skin.

Numbing cream can be applied first, and the skin booster is placed with very fine injections. Small bumps at the injection points are normal and usually settle within a day or so.

Aftercare

Skin booster aftercare

For the first 24 hours, avoid make-up on the treated area, alcohol and strenuous exercise, and try not to press or massage the area unless you’ve been told to. Saunas, steam rooms and strong heat are best left for a couple of days.

You’ll leave with written aftercare instructions and a way to contact the clinic if anything worries you.

Questions

Skin booster questions

How long do skin boosters last?

Most people have a short course, then top up a couple of times a year to maintain hydration. Lara will plan timings with you.

When will I see a difference?

Many people notice their skin looking better hydrated within a couple of weeks, with the effect building across a course.

Do skin boosters hurt?

The injections are very fine and numbing cream can be used beforehand. Most people feel a brief sting rather than pain.

How much does skin booster treatment cost?

The price depends on whether you have a single treatment or a course, so it’s confirmed at your consultation once Lara has assessed your skin.

You’ll have the full cost in writing before you decide anything, and there’s no obligation to go ahead.

Are skin boosters suitable for everyone?

Not always, which is one reason every treatment starts with a consultation. It isn’t offered during pregnancy or breastfeeding, and the clinic doesn’t treat anyone under eighteen.

Lara will go through your medical history with you, including any allergies, before recommending anything.
